The success of any company, organization or even country depends in many points on a leader. That is why it is fair to assume that the role of leader is very important and that is why fir many year people try to find the recipe of ideal leader and many studies have been devoted to understand the influence of leadership on organizational structure and performance. There are many of theories aimed to define and explore the leadership as a phenomenon which allows only a few to lead and inspire the most.
The most commonly used theories are:
• Behavioural Theories. Role Theory
• Contingency Theories
• Great Man Theory.
• Participative Leadership. Lewin 's leadership styles
• Situational Leadership. Hersey and Blanchard 's Situational Leadership
• Trait Theory
• Transactional Leadership
• Transformational Leadership
Great Man Theory (1840s):
The Great Man Theory is associated most often with 19th-century commentator and historian Thomas Carlyle, who commented that "The history of the world is but the biography of great men," reflecting his belief that heroes shape history through both their personal attributes and divine inspiration. According to author, a leader is the one gifted with unique qualities that capture the imagination of the masses.
