In modern day, everyone is looking to get into the wildest, most mind blowing, out-of-this-world parties around. Now, envision a future where Friday night, the only break from the hassle of the work week, consists of sitting in your living room instant messaging a group of strangers. Even if this idea may sound ridiculous, the transition has already begun. Online dating is a relatively new concept originating in the years following the turn of the century. Since then, the dynamic in dating relationships has changed drastically, some for better, others however, definitely changed for worse. Even though online dating has offered a way for busy singles looking for a relationship easier access to likeminded people to date, it is not a foolproof system. Members of society are being put in danger by this new dating technology. Predators have a new outlet to find their prey, such that all different types of predators can access more vulnerable people to take advantage of and hurt. Even those who do not fall into the clutches of an online predator, are still at risk when they date online. After encountering an online predator, people who have been dating online have started to develop severe emotional problems. For those who are already vulnerable and impressionable, the effects of online dating can be devastating. People are spending so much time dating online that they are becoming more socially inept and are unable to function in social situations. This leads to isolationism and…
