Race, Ethnicity And Racial Preferences

As a sociologist in training, I have observed that race and ethnicity is what most people look at in a person they are dating or marrying. For example, a filipino person wants to date or marry another filipino. there are also some other preferences such as age, height, body type, and intelligence or education level but for some people it does not really matter. It may be because of the person’s personality. Chow’s , Lee and Bean’s and Feliciano’s readings prove that racial preference is highest preference for some people. People have different kinds of preferences in finding a partner. There are also an internet dating websites which is quite popular for some people. It is somewhat effective for others. The negative thing about it is that people may lie about their profile such as their height, age , and even their race or ethnicity. They may also give pictures that are not even them or their picture when they were younger. Another negative thing about it is that it might be someone who will only play with you because you do not know their true behavior or personality. On the other hand, it may be effective for others who found a partner that they are comfortable with. I have heard of some people who have dated and became steady with their relationship. I used to believe that dating websites does not really work but seeing people who got together from a dating website somewhat changed my mind. Furthermore, people have different views or opinions when it comes to their preferences in dating, marriage, race and ethnicity, and also how effective the dating website
