Most people today are not going to do illegal activities to win the love of another. Love nowadays can be found in new ways of meeting. Some couples have met on online dating sites, which is far different from how people met in 1922. Most people do not do the little things like opening the car door, or bringing flowers on the first date. People find that it is hard to find “the one,” so they use different techniques to find new people. On dating profiles, people find matches who have some of the same characteristics as them and they end up matching together perfectly. This would make it easier to talk to the person because you know what you have in common. Love is difficult to find, but at least there are newer ways of attaining it. Dating sites are not the only new aspects of love in today’s society. There is a difference in views, and how people act around each other. Everything is much more casual than what life was like in the 1920s. For instance, the elegant dressed dinner dates of Gatsby’s day are now overrun by the common usage of denim jeans and overpriced movie theaters. Or how people are now more interested in public displays of affection than the “old fashioned” dinner talks. Even with less and less elegance, romance still continues to blossom. With more casual areas available, people are actually able to meet more often and in many different places, creating a breeding ground for future

In the very end Gus leaves a eulogy for Hazel when she dies, but instead Hazel cherishes this gift as way of remembering Gus. This just comes to show no matter what happens you can always cherish your love you had with somebody even if they had passed.
