There are many different kinds of leadership theories. Leadership theories consists of different areas of focus such as managerial, task, people or transformational. Leadership theories such as the Great Man theory by Thomas Carlyle, the Managerial Grid by Blake and Mouton, and Paul Hersey and Kenneth Blanchard’s Situational Leadership theory all correlates to a majority of our industries. The remaining few rely on Charismatic and Transformational leadership theories in guiding the top organizations. The Great man theory originated from Thomas Carlyle in the 29th century (Bisk, n.d). This theory argues that “great leaders are born, not made” (Bisk, n.d.). The Great Man theory surrounds the traits in which the great leader is born with and …show more content…
Focusing on people and the task needs. The difference between Hersey and Blanchard’s situation leadership grid and Blake and Mouton’s Managerial Grid is that the situational leadership grid surrounds in leadership and developmental of the follower (Pamela Spahr, October 2015). There are four models to the situational leadership grid: Telling leaders, Selling leaders, Participating leaders, and Delegating leaders. Telling leaders make decisions and communicate to others accordingly and expects others to follow (Pamela Spahr, October 2015). Selling leaders are flexible leaders who make decision but are open to suggestions (Pamela Spahr, October 2015). Participating leaders on the other hand are leaders who interact with others, guiding and allowing them to make decisions. Delegating leaders are those who provide minimal guiding in decision making or tasks but oversee for questions and support (Pamela Spahr, October 2015). A great example of situational leadership is level II managers. Level II managers are delegating leaders who are responsible for the team but allows the manager I level to make decisions and guiding as needed by the …show more content…

Transformational leaders are guided with missions to achieve accomplishments. They work to change the system (Pamela Spahr, October 2015).
