ICU Role Model

In the ICU, I have the pleasure of working for a great manager. She has been an asset to the ICU for many years. When I started working in the ICU, she was my charge nurse and did an amazing job in her role. Two years ago, she was promoted to manager. As the manager, I would have to say that the theory she follows is transformational. Transformational leaders view relationships between the leader and the follower with extreme importance. Transformational leaders also build a mutual vision, they encourage motivation and participation, they share information through team work and trust, they are role models with their goal settings and behaviors, and are flexible in dealing with unforeseen issues (Taylor, 2009).
My experience with my manager has been a positive one. She is a great motivator. Many times, in stressful situations, she is right with us at the bedside. She roles up her sleeves, and dives right in, which portrays great team work. She also includes us in her vision of

According to AACN, you can volunteer to be part of their advisory team, program planning committee, publishing group, review panel, or even become and ambassador for the organization.
To obtain a position of service all you need to do is be a member of the organization and accurately complete a volunteer profile. Once that is complete you will be considered for your opportunity of interest. As far as political issues are concerned, the AACN has advocacy initiatives that align with their mission and strategic plan. Some of the initiatives are healthy work environments for nurses, palliative and end of life care for patients and their families, and staffing and workforce development (American Association of Critical Care website, n.d.).
In working within the political system, the AACN organization mostly works in coalition with other healthcare organizations in making their voice known. Their view is that a
