Time doesn’t stop, day-by-day people get closer to their deaths. Everybody dies but not everybody live their lives to become legends. Many presidents have led the United States of America, some have been great leaders for the country, while others weren’t so virtuous. One of the utmost presidents that have led U.S. to great success at its time is Abraham Lincoln. Till this day he is known as one of the greatest American presidents, but at his time of his election no one predicted Lincoln’s success. Lincoln was born in Kentucky February 12, 1809. He moved to Indiana in 1816 and lived there on behalf of his childhood days. Also he was the first President from the Republican side Party. During his term of presidency Lincoln led the Union through the Civil War, he took powers no previous President had ever assumed. The Union won a small battle at Antietam in Maryland. That is when Lincoln used the event to make one of his most important decisions. He issued the Emancipation Proclamation. The Proclamation was a very important factor in the turning side of the war. Not only did it free the slaves of the South, but also a couple hundred thousand slaves joined the Union Army. With Lincoln naming Grant commander in chief of all the Union Armies, helped the Union win the Civil war over the Confederate. Winning the Civil War meant that the slaves were free. That is when the 13th Amendment came into role.
President Lincoln was successful at pretty much everything he put his mind into, he did it by working hard and was an honest genuine person. He would surround him self with other intelligent and honest people. Sadly President Lincoln was Assassinated on April 14, 1865, he was attending a play at Ford’s Theater in Washington
