How do I not let the small things get to me and stress me out?
Tell what you knew: “Being in control of your life and having realistic expectations about your day-to-day challenges are the keys to stress management, which is perhaps the most important ingredient to living a happy, healthy and rewarding life,” was once said by Marilu Henner, an American actress. Stress is one thing that can cause a person to break down and act like a different person than who they really are. There is a wide variety of things that bring stress into anyone’s life and can do great damage. School being one of these things. Going to school is so much more than going to a building, sitting at a desk all day, and listening to adults, known as teachers, talk about

Starting sports was one of the best decisions I’ve made throughout my life. Sports have given me so many great opportunities and have become a big part of my life, but it has also caused a lot of pain and stress in my life. Sports make it harder to spend as much time on school work, but I created a good habit of keeping sports and homework balanced, so neither interfere with each other. High school sports are a whole different story than middle school because of more competition and more people. I started high school sports with playing volleyball, and then basketball came around and I broke my ankle. This ended my year of sports for freshman year as I had to recover for nine months. Having to go through this situation was really tough for me as I had to miss school for appointments and surgery causing me to get behind in school, and I had to sit on the sidelines watching my friends play the sports that I love. It was stressful missing some classes and it was hard to keep up in every class. This was a rough patch in my life because I did not have the same motivation that I did in the beginning of the …show more content…
Finding the answer to this question is important to me because stress is one thing that has affected my life in a positive way, but more so in a negative way. From being stressed with school to sports to friends and family, I have woken up in the middle of the night worrying and have lost some motivation over being stressed out over these things. In the past few years, I have realized that I get extremely stressed when it comes to having a test in a class the next day. Some nights I have woken up at times, such as 2:00 or 2:30 in the morning, and I start reviewing what I need to know for the test the next day. I have formed a bad studying habit of procrastination with studying where I wait to study for a test the night before or the morning of. I also sometimes procrastinate with my homework, which leads up to me staying up really late to finish it and I lose sleep, or I just wait until the next day during Raider Enrichment or my study hall fifth hour. I think this is one thing that causes so much stress with school, but I would like to figure out what my problem is with getting so stressed out all the time because it is not just school work that stresses me out. If there is something not right in my life where someone is mad at me, I am not doing the greatest in sports, or I am behind with completing a task I am supposed to do for one of the clubs I take part in, I can go crazy in the head for a few

The sleep that you don’t get at night time when you are supposed to get it can result in mood swings, anxiety attacks, and depression frequently, said Dr. Raymond (Choi A06). In “Hard Lesson in Sleep for Teenagers”, Brody says sleep deprivation can have negative effects on teenager’s moods. When I don’t get enough the eight hours of sleep I need I get very irritated with my mom, dad, and grandparents. Not too long ago I got into a conflict with my mom because I didn’t get enough sleep for a whole weekend and I started to yell at her, I was mad at her but she just kept talking and I just wanted to get my rest. “Inadequate sleep raises the risk of depression, and sleeping less than eight hours a night has been linked to a nearly threefold increased risk of suicide attempts” (Brody D5).…

This effected me a lot throughout high school. Being a pessimist, plus my depression, made learning harder. When a friend would get mad at me I would blame myself for everything, instead of seeing that it was just a problem of miscommunication. My bleak outlook on life made me hate waking up at six a.m. every morning to go to class. Even when I studied all night for a test I would believe that I was going to fail despite the effort I made looking over my notes.…
