Sports have became one of my greatest passions since I was at a very young age, and now, I am completely addicted to it. See the thing is, I would always give my time up for it because I just had so much fun doing it. It was something that benefitted me in many different ways, both physically, mentally, and academically. It forced me to keep my grades high enough in order to participate in the games. I started to notice that it eventually consumed a whole lot of my time once I started playing sports in high school because it was a lot more serious than the middle school sports I was involved in. Even when the season wasn’t going on, I still found myself training and finding ways to better myself as an overall player for that specific sport and whatever season was up next. I found myself revolving my entire days around sports and academics; dedicating my mornings, nights, and weekends around the love of the game. As I became more dedicated and …show more content…

They also don’t realize that scholarships only pay for so much. There are around 138,000 athletic scholarships available for Division I and Division II sport. Yes, that does sounds like a lot, but, you have to keep in mind that you have to divide that by all the sports and the amount of kids trying to receive it. There are more than a million boys playing high school football but there are only roughly 19,000 football scholarships available. Other sports, such as girls track and field, only have around 4,000 scholarships available compared to the nearly 600,000 who compete and have the same ambitious goal to take one of those
