Our assignment for this paper is to take a belief that we feel strongly about and argue both sides and discuss our conclusion. When I thought about a topic that would fit this classification there is no more debatable topic then abortion. Abortion is a topic of life that we can’t avoid, weather political or persona, it is a topic that will come up and people have strong views about this issue. In my paper, I will discuss the history of abortion, some views of why people agree with abortion (pro-choice) and I will also discuss some views of people that disapprove with abortion (pro-life).
Researching the information on my paper I came about some numbers that were shocking to me and maybe it’s because my stands on the subject but I found that abortion is one of the most common medical procedures in the United States each year. It is also said that more than 40 percent of all women will end a pregnancy by abortion at some time in their reproductive lives. Worldwide abortion is referred to as the elective termination of pregnancy and to this day it remains a common procedure. While women of every social class seek abortion, the typical woman who ends her pregnancy is either young, white, unmarried, poor, or over the age of 40.The United States legalized abortion in 1973 doing the well- known court case of Roe v. Wade and since then there are about 1.2 million abortions performed each year in just the United States. The numbers worldwide is said to be about 20 to 30…
