The Importance Of The Book Can Change A Person's Life

In society today, a hobby can change a person’s life. Some can be for the better, others for worse. The influence a hobby can have on someone’s life really is life-changing. Now, some may be educational, sporty, exciting, or even dangerous. To read and write is a gift; actually a blessing. We learn it at an early age and our ability grows as we get older. I, for one, took enjoyment in learning how to do these things. When I was a child, of course the picture books were the best. I mean, at that age, I didn’t really have the visualization skills to see the book on my own just from words, versus how I am today. So, I loved having the pictures in books as a visual aid. I was reading things like “Beauty & the Beast, The Jungle Book, Tarzan, Cinderella, and The Lion King.” I can’t say how many times I read those books over and over. I went on to read more and more of those books, but this time they had some chapters. Books such as “Where The Wild Things Are, Charlotte’s Web, and Frog and Toad Are Friends.” There are probably many more not listed but these are just to name a few. …show more content…
This is the description of me made by my friends. I’m the girl who always has a book in hand or within close reach. The girl who will tell you about the book she is reading even if someone doesn’t know what I am talking about. But, in all actuality, it’s my mom and my grandma who have had the biggest influence on the things I read. They are always encouraging me to read new things and to also read as much as I can. I will never be able to thank them enough for this, as doing so made me into who I am today. I hope to proceed with this hobby of mine until I’m too old to read. I even hope to have my own library one day because I already have a head start. I own about 115 books, more or less, and continue to add more to my collection. With that being said, does anybody have any

To say that I am a reader would be a stretch. I can not remember the last time I picked up a book for my own personal pleasure. Some would say that should bother me, but I can’t agree with the reasoning behind it. Mostly people bring up how books have broadened their horizons and changed their way of thinking, which is something I can’t relate to. Instead, I would say that I agree with what a good book should do, but I can‘t say I have found a good book, or a page turner if you will.…

Children are introduced to words in the art that they cannot understand it by just listening or reading it. Defining unknown words becomes easier because the pictures provide clues to the reader. For example, when talking about the shapes of the pumpkins, the child is able to differentiate a pumpkin from another, like the skinny one and the fat one, the tall and the round pumpkins. Picture books encourage joy in reading. Reading books with art is FUN, whether a kid alone or with older siblings.…

The only time I could escape was when I snuggled down with a good book and let my imagination fly free with the Wicked Witch of the West, a horse called Misty, the book thief Liesel Meminger, and Lucy, the youngest of the Pevensies. However, as I grew older, I read less for enjoyment and more for school. I’m not a book nerd--I don’t even think I’m a nerd at all. Take my older sister, Lillian. Now, she was the book nerd of the family.…

Much like James Stewart, my love of reading preceded my interest in writing. I would visit the library often growing up, checking out books in the mornings at the elementary school before the first bell rang or taking part in the public library’s reading program during the summer. When I had my tonsils removed in the fourth grade, my school librarian (who was all too familiar with me at this point) delivered me a stack of books at home, knowing I would get restless without reading material while I was recovering. Unlike Stewart, my love of writing followed soon after as a natural progression. My mother was a teacher at my elementary school, so I would often stay with her after the class ended, waiting for her to finish grading papers or write…

For the first six years of my life, I had almost never read; not to my parents or even to myself. It wasn’t that I was unable to—I had to learned to read at a young age, and I did so fairly well—but the act of sitting for hours and flipping page after page after page. It seemed so monotonous. Then I entered first grade, where reading was mandatory.…

She became my educator throughout elementary whenever I needed help with literature work outside of school.…

A girl at school once asked me, “How are you in this constant state of reading?” I laughed because the answer is simple: I love to read. I chose books as a symbol because reading and literature is very important to my culture and my family. When my father was young, his grandmother used to read to him every day, and my father did the same for my siblings and I. Ever since I was a little girl I have loved to read, and I own many books that I keep on shelves.…

We - as civilization - are shaped by our interactions with people. Some people have an engaged personality; generally bold or active. Other people tend to have a shy or introverted personality, preferring to be engaged in a small group of friends and stray from large groups.
