Mark Twain once said, “Good friends, good books, and a sleepy coincidence is the ideal of life.” Books help people escape the harshness of life. If that’s what they really desire. Or, books can bring people together. They spark creativity, and ideas. You know why they made book clubs? So that we can discuss what books represent and what their thoughts about how the book made them feel on the inside. Books have meaning, but some of these meanings aren’t meant to be shared with younger children. They also have meaning that adults need to support them so they can start a new beginning. Why would you ban a book? What is the purpose of getting rid of a book? It’s no surprise that people are banning books across the country in libraries and in schools. The main reasons why books are banned is mainly because they are violent, have profanity, and encourages homosexuality. For example, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee was banned because of “Conflicts with Community”. (Books with reasons why). Why would we want to introduce this to our children? Most of the time, these books aren’t meant for kids in the first place. They are meant for young adults, and teenagers. But, kids can have access to these books anytime in libraries and schools. So we put labels on them, and say that they are actually going to be harming our children in the future. People label the banned books as “A Rose with Thorns”. In comparison with the rose, I am able to see how people would think that. Kids see a book that they think would be okay for them to read and think nothing of it. They see the “pretty rose” and pick it, then later realize that it has thorns. But they don’t realize that the thorns can be harmful to them until their parents find out, and have the book banned. If they banned the wrong books, then people would get
