Assalamualaikum and welcome to Entrepreneurship Day. We have all heard that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, but do you know why? I am here to share the reasons why it is important to us. Breakfast literally means, “breaking the fast”. At night while you sleep your body is fasting, using stored energy to maintain heart rate, breathing and circulation. When you awake in the morning your body requires refueling, breakfast gives you this fuel as the first meal of your day. If you skip this meal your body continues to fast using stored glycogen from your muscles to maintain your ability to function. However, your body remains starving, so it will reduce metabolism, which slows down energy and the ability to focus, concentrate and …show more content…
Those who skip breakfast have a tendency to consume more food than usual the next chance they get to grab a bite to eat and also have a higher tendency to snack on high-calorie foods to keep hunger at bay until then. For example, you are more susceptible to eating fast food or even overeating by the time lunch roles around. You will end up eating more than you would have if you have eaten breakfast in the first place. Research shows those who eat breakfast are less likely to be overweight and more likely to be within their ideal weight range compared with breakfast skippers. If you skip breakfast, you're more likely to reach for high sugar and fatty snacks mid-morning. For people who think skipping breakfast will help to lose weight, they are actually hurting their own changes to do just that. When you skip breakfast, you body and brain slow down, but remain hungry still needing fuel for energy. So by ten or eleven am, your stomach is growling. When you refuel with breakfast, you actually will help with weight loss and weight management. Studies have shown that weight loss can be more difficult and weight gain more prevalent in folks who opt out on the morning meal. As for children, if you often misses breakfast, are you at higher risk for overweight? The answer is yes. This is because you will soon feel hungry, so you often buy snacks or lunch with an inconsistent amount but with a regular breakfast, you can control your weight better. There are many parents who lack or not pay attention to their children’s breakfast. They are boasting or even belittling breakfast for their children. By teaching a regular breakfast every day, it can help your children to control their weight and reduce the risk of obesity.
