Over the course of the semester I’ve learned a lot of information over wellness. I’ve learned about chronic diseases, cardiorespiratory health/endurance, how to cope with stress, etc. I also started a behavior change project. This allowed me to change one of my most destructive habits, an unhealthy diet. I had no idea that there were so many aspects to wellness. After learning about all seven dimensions of wellness (Social, Intellectual, Spiritual, Occupational, Physical, Environmental, and Emotional) I wanted to increase my wellness in all of these dimensions, in doing so I have had to make a complete lifestyle change.
Environmental wellness is the first dimension I want to talk about. Every time I had the chance I would recycle. Recycling has a big impact on our environment, by recycling I am reducing the amount of garbage sent to landfills. Landfills take up space in our environment while producing toxic chemicals. Also, by me recycle I am allowing new goods to be made by old resources. Another way I increased my environmental well-being was walking as much as possible instead of driving. This helps our environment and helps me physically become a healthier individual.
After my first semester of college I realized I was slowly starting to lose my faith. I stopped going to church, I stopped attending Young Life, and I didn’t really talk to anyone about my faith. It’s not like I was trying to drift away from being a Christian, but baseball and school just consumed my life.…
