The social stigma against those in need always baffled me . It is real and it is more prevalent than it should be . To hear others speak harshly and judge others in situations they can't control angered me. Poverty, disaster, homelessness can happen to anyone at anytime. Therefore, a larger goal of mine is to educate the public so that these stigma's can go away. We are all together on this planet so in a way we are family. There is a gap between those who are better off and those who are less fortunate. When we are born into this world, we are pure . Pure of hate,dislike, and judgement. The snide remarks, spiteful chuckling, and closed minds are all learned behavior. Why are we taught to dislike what we don't understand? It has been a life goal to try and figure this out. Most days I stayed afterschool and assisted the Meals on Wheels program. We provided care for young children and collected and prepared meals with food from donations and the local community garden that I also assisted with. I was also active in the yearly food and clothing donation. Each year was a success , we even received thank you cards from shelters we helped because of how massive our donations was. Im extremely thankful to have attented a Jesuit high school. It was implemented in our curriculum to be warriors for our community and I carried this attitude with me into
