People in different areas of Alaska all have different environments and depending on their environments, there might not be many activities that are possible. For example, in Barrow, the weather in the winter is very cold and there are tends to be a lot of snow and that would hinder any walking and bicycling. Small villages do not have community gyms because of how small the town is, so the only accessible gym might be at the school. Through the Healthy Alaskan 2020, the goal is more focused on Alaskans and the people who are in charge would know more about Alaska to decide what needs to be done to encourage people to do physical activity. For adolescents, adopting the “wellness policy” will provide teens with healthier, and more delicious, …show more content…
The strategy to offer more programs will also help increase the number of people who would accept the offer. For example, free dance or yoga classes may encourage people to come out to experience something new. Offering more programs in school and making physical education required for some years will also increase adolescents who do physical activity. Parents who regularly exercise will become an influence to their children, and having more fun activities that happen outside of the house will also decrease the amount of screen time that children tend to have when they are at home. Parents who commute to the gym will, in most cases, bring their child, and gyms that have a weight room, basketball court and no limits to what sports can play there, will also increase the chance of children playing something that they excel at or to try something new. With all these public and new school policies, and construction of new gym facilities, Alaskan’s will become more aware of physical activity and even if they do not know the benefits of physical activity, having events that promotes it will naturally get people to
