A major problem has erupted over the past decade within the United States. Gun control has killed thousands of people alone in the United States. There has been a total of 7,940 incidents with guns in the year 2015, I believe there has to be a stronger form of gun control in the United States. There is roughly 300 million guns in the U.S, one in three Americans own one of these guns for their own use. Just like owning a gun one in three Americans have some sort of police record. As shown in figure 1, the United States has a large variety of gun owners, especially in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming which 50% of their civilians own a firearm. Figure 1

Since the first theater shooting in 1979, theater shooting have occurred more and more frequently as shown in figure 3. One of the most recent shootings took place in Aurora, Colorado during the showing of Christopher Nolan’s “The Dark Knight Rises.” James Holmes entered the movie theater and opened fire into a crowd of people watching the movie, killing 12 and injuring 70 pedestrians. Following that shooting, last year (2015), a similar shooting occurred in Lafayette, Louisiana. His proposals focus on new background check requirements that will enhance the effectiveness of the National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS)” as said in ncsl.org. He instated that all places where you can go and purchase a gun, to have a license to be able to sell guns to the public.
