Guns in America As Americans guns are our pastime, it has given us a way to feed and protect our families for decades (Five 1). Doreen Gonzales believes around the date 1607 the first colonist journeyed onto American soil with firearms (11). Guns have been molded into the American way of life and culture with their constant presence on television, movies, and in the news. There are currently enough guns in the United States that roughly every man, woman, and child could own one. Guns have constantly been in the headlines with around 22 mass shootings and 20 regular shootings each year, the question now is if gun control is the answer to end all the gun violence (Deadliest 1)? This is the number one controversial issue in the United States with the recent presidential election and shootings around the country. Guns have taken many lives, but looked at the lives they have saved, police and other officials have different views, and the second amendment, will taking away gun stop shootings, safety and hunting, and background checks and other stricter laws might just be the way to keep guns in our country. The Second Amendment is the strongest piece of evidence to help support gun rights. In the Bill of Rights under the Second Amendment it quotes:
A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a Free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed, meaning we as Americans have the right to bear arms (The Bill of Rights). The Second…
