Cassidy Walton Professor Marek English 1101 Sec. 54AZ 6 June 2018 Annotated Bibliography: Animal Testing Animal testing is one of the most frowned upon scientific experiments around, but the whole world needs this testing to save the human race. There are causes and effects just like any other scientific experiments. The testing of animals helps the human race better understand the way animals react to the cures, and to help find cures for the diseases.…
Testing on animals is an ongoing debate among people due to the reasoning, pros and cons, and the alternative choices available. There are many reasons that people test on animals. “Animal experimentation became the primary method of learning about anatomy, physiology, and disease processes.” (13). Using animals for…
Any cosmetic or medical companies will tell consumers that their products are the best since it has been tested on animals for safety, but the truth behind animal testing will make buyers think twice about their merchandise. Nowadays, more and more people are teaming up against animal testing. Laboratory testing is done on substances that make up medication and cosmetics, such as perfume, lotion, soap, etc. Animals are used to develop medical treatments, determine the toxicity of medications, and check the safety of products destined for human use. Substances are injected into animal’s bodies to prove that products are harmless to people, and the environment.…
Animal testing, although defective, has proven to be beneficial. Animal testing has contributed to medical science in a number of ways. Because of the complexity of the human body, scientists will argue that it is necessary to perform research on living animals. However, because humans and other animals vary significantly, these tests may not always produce accurate results. Although there are alternatives to animal testing, eliminating the usage of animals will slow the progress of medical advancement.…
Close your eyes and picture yourself as an innocent animal. While being that animal someone comes along an takes you in and feeds, shelter, and comforts you. Then suddenly the person that cared for you strips your fur, or brutally murders you for food, or holds you hostage for tests. These are just a few animal abuse in today's society that needs to be extinguished, therefore animals in our ecosystem deserve rights. Those rights should end the problems with animal abuse, abandonment, and animal experimentation.…
As society transitions from a mindset of industrialization to an environmentally based mentality, more ethical issues come to light. It is estimated that 50 to 100 million animals annually are used for scientific research. With the growing trend of vegetarian and vegan diets, controversy arises regarding whether it is acceptable to cause suffering and death to animals for human benefits. Particularly in the cases of research and experimentation, the use of animals raises concern about how the government should intervene, if at all.…
When animals are used in medical research, it is great way to uncover the mysteries and find treatments or even cures for various diseases. For example, in Shany Sun’s Young Scientists Journal article, “The Truth Behind Animal Testing,” the author says, “…medical advancements that have been discovered through animal testing include penicillin, blood transfusions, insulin (that controls blood sugar levels of diabetics), kidney transplants, and vaccines for polio and meningitis” (Sun 1). This example shows just how beneficial animal testing in medical research can be. These medical advancements would not have been available for years if animal testing had not…
In our daily lives, we use different products for a variety of things. In drugstores and in our local malls, there are categories of diverse items that are available to us. These items can range from makeup, skincare, hair products, prescription medicine and much more. They contribute in making our lives easier and more productive. These products are often designed to enhance our appearance and health.…
Animal Experimentation Animal experimentation- the process of using animals to test the safety of products in order to better understand the workings of the human body. Did you know that 95% of the animals used in experiments are not protected by the AWA? (animalresearch.thehastingscenter.org) This includes rats, mice, birds, fish, and many other creatures common to animal experimentation. 80% of the world allows animal testing for cosmetic products; however, approximately half of the global cosmetic market is closed to the idea of using animals to test their products.…
Animal testing has been around for a long time with some unpleasant history. With the expertise in technology not being as advanced and innovative as it is today with using other alternative methods, scientists had tested their theories on animals. Animals used in research experiments go back to the early Greek physician scientists such as Aristotle, Erasistratus and Galen. Galen practiced in Rome, where he conducted animal experiments to develop the understanding of anatomy, physiology, pathology and pharmacology. An Arab physician in the 12th century Moorish Spain also engaged in animal research carrying out certain tests.…
Temple Grandin stated “I think using animals for food is an ethical thing to do but we’ve got to do it right. We’ve got to give those animals a decent life and we’ve got to give them painless death. We owe the animals respect. ”One way the animals are used in our life is like as pet many humans beings have many of animals as their pet they love them like they are supposed to be loved .They are not in this world for people to harm them. The second way is like children some people can’t have kids, so when a baby puppy or a kitten or any kind of animal is born they would keep them until the animals die or the person that is taking care of them dies then they would give it to the animal shelter when animals are taken care for nicely the animals will love the owner that is how some humans use the animals like.…
After studying multiple views on animal testing I have come to realize my personal view has now changed since the start of my research. Before undergoing heavy study into animal testing I believed that all types of animal testing should be stopped, but now I believe that the idea is very beneficial and should only be done when the rights of the animal are considered. In the coming years, hopefully, more regulations can be passed to ensure that all animal’s lives are protected during experimentation. Although most animals are treated with care and no pain is dealt to them when undergoing testing, it would be a lie if I stated no animals are harmed during the process. Animal testing is extremely useful in developing life-saving drugs and medicine.…
Josse Adame Rationale The topic I found most interesting to research is animal cruelty. I chose this topic because i want to get more knowledge about why people tend to hurt animals and what their purpose is. Every day in our community I see all types of animals going through torture and suffering. I want to understand why people think it is ok to kill or hurt an animal for their benefit.…
Over 26 billion animals are used every year for animal testing (Animal Testing). Some would argue that animal testing is helpful to the human life because we have found a lot about what the body looks like inside and how it works. Also, we have found many vaccines against harmful diseases. Woods research states “animal testing has been around for over 2,000 years” (9). Alcmaeno, a Greek scientist in 500 BC found about how eye sight works.…
Animal Experimentation The used of animal in biomedical research has been around millennium years ago. At the present, 17 to 22 million animals were utilized worldwide each year. (Source) Animal experimentation defining that animal testing was to introduce biology lessons, medical training, cosmetics testing, to find new drugs, chemical, and food. The scientists required to performance the experiment on animals to determine those drugs, and foods are safe for the human or not.…
