The Book for Well being “Facebook’s mission is to give people the power to share and make the world more open and connected,” Mark Zuckerberg writes in a Facebook post (Facebook). “We believe the better you can share and connect, the more progress society will make. Relationships grow stronger, more jobs and businesses are created and governments better reflect people’s values.” Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook, believes that Facebook is the tool to empower people to make their voices heard and to achieve global well-being through global internet connection. “Rather than enhancing well-being, however, these findings suggest Facebook may undermine it” (721), Ethan Kross concludes in a scholarly study titled “Facebook Use Predicts Declines in Subjective Well-Being in Young Adults” which is about the negative psychological effect of Facebook. By observing 82 participants’ Facebook activity, state of mind and direct social contacts, Kross reported that the more people use Facebook, the more their life satisfaction level decline; the more the participants socialized in the real world, the more positive they are (721).
