Whether he was the creator of life, or a huge image of most religions, the use of his name is presented in different ways due to either tragic or memorable events that has occurred in most people’s lives. “A Love for God” (Joseph Langland, pg 53. Selected Poems. Amherst: U of Massachusetts, 1991. Print) is about how a person (can’t define on who is presenting in this poem like is it based for a male or female) who is observing their view on nature and how certain areas gives you temptation and feelings on which god had created for this world. This presents how just by having a mixed feeling for God, as it is quoted “God always threatens. His love makes us bold.” Shows that the figure of God makes the person feels scared by how there are many temptations and the feeling of happiness towards death “But though an insanity of happiness is death, I’ll go”. But also a love of nature can make the person have a feeling of Love for God, (which is ironically the title of this poem) since he is mainly a symbol of hope and a guide to all problems with prayers. Some lack support or have a fear of being defenseless when it comes to facing society. Independent is when you’re just relying on yourself with a little or no need of help from now on. In “do not be afraid of no”, (Brooks, Gwendolyn. Selected poems. New York: Harper&Row, 1963.print, pg. 36) it shows how no matter how much a person was turned down or was forced into doing certain task like keeping secrets,” A flying furniture, or a bird with lattice wing; or gaunt thing” that person was told to step up and be independent and to never be afraid to what comes in life. The poem was based on having the feeling of getting advice when becoming independent. People are more independent as each generation changes and to the fact that people are stepping up to prove that no one can bring them down. With “Getting ready to really leave”, it was describing how a person that isn’t ready to leave and be independent, was suddenly ready to go as his memories that he was trying to hold on we're fading and that the room or maybe an empty house that he was standing in, was empty and gave him the urge to move on and be independent. Langland was trying to point out that in society, most become independent by force and also a lack of attention. With the view of independent, Gwendolyn Brooks supports and shows some type of message/advice on becoming independent since in this line of the poem
