Rough Draft Are people fully aware of the harsh consequences and regret an abortion can cause? Abortions could be viewed as either a great act or a horrifying one, some would argue. The act of an abortion has different outcomes depending on the person planning to undergo the procedure or even the person who has previously overcome it. Abortions could be seen going back to the 1920’s and even in the modern world we live in today. Since then there have been some views on it that would consider the act to be very emotionally painful towards the mother. For example the way an abortion was discussed in “The Mother” by Gwendolyn Brooks sheds light on the story portrayed in “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway to show how difficult the choice is to have an abortion.

Firstly Brooks describes the graphic act of an unborn fetus being removed ahead of time. Brooks then begins to explain to other mothers like her who have had more than one abortion, the side effects post surgery. For example Brooks states, “Abortions will not let you forget” (388). She didn’t continues to focus more on herself and her dad children, which is just some more full explanation for how she feels. “Hills Like White Elephants” by Ernest Hemingway focuses on a couple having a few drinks at a train station. The couple is clearly arguing whether the woman should undergo the procedure or not, which is an abortion. The man strongly urged her to go along with it was stating that he will still love her the same regardless of her choice. She feels homeport and this is for the man although she is clearly unhappy about it. Although at the end you are kind of unsure as to what is going to happen next but you can guess she is going along with her
