Justification Essay

The essay that I have chosen to feature in my creative writing portfolio, is entitled The Ghost Rider. The Ghost Rider will always have a special place in my heart, because of the people that I have met, and the turmoil that I have survived. In 2011 I experienced the largest fears that I could have ever dreamed of. I lost my place to live in Tulsa Oklahoma. I became one of those statistics that you hear so often in the National News. During this time of my life, I was placed in a homeless shelter, where I witnessed drug abuse, violence, and gang activity as part of everyday life. During this experience, I became friends with a gentleman by the name of Dwayne Gordon. He was a gunnery sergeant with the US Marines, during the Vietnam War. He also had been homeless for quite some time. He suffered from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, and a few other mental disabilities. I do not understand what drew me to him; it was like a message had been sent to me from above. I knew that this gentleman needed my company, just as much as I needed his. I needed to help him in any way that I could. People were amazed at how well we had gotten along. Most people would not give him the time of day, much less get him the help that he needed, and deserved. Some people nicked named us as the odd couple. I carefully balanced my time, from spending time with my new found friend. I loved to talk to him, and listening to the war stories that he told. I also had to attempt…
