Writing Down The Bones By Natalie Goldberg: Literary Analysis

“If your not afraid of the voice inside you, you will not fear the critiques outside you”(Goldberg) . In the book, "Writing Down the Bones" by Natalie Goldberg, she writes a series of stories that she has experienced throughout her life. Because she a writer, she give the student and teacher tips on writing. With these stories and tips Goldberg does a really good job of pushing the reader and motivating our ideas. These both stories taught me a lot like, self appreciation,not doubting myself , and freedom. As a result i feel more confident not only in myself but in my writing too and also trust myself.
Body paragraph 1 In the story “Doubt Is Torture”. She talks about her friend hoping to make it to the music industry. His plan is to move to Los Angeles to following his aspiration. She writes about how in Judaism an old tradition when a young boy begins to study there are often rewarded with "sweets". With These rewards the boy will associate learning with sweetness causing them to push their learning. Goldberg states the same should be done with writing "Right from the beginning, know it is good and pleasant. Don't battle with it. Make it your friend" (Goldberg 119). When we don't feel like writing let it go and come back to it whenever.Learning to working with It is vital she says and the source of life. Her main point is that writing makes you feel connected with yourself , and that is gives us a sense of peace. " don't even worry about well, just writing is heaven" (Goldberg 119). This will ultimately make us feel connected again. I connect to this because i learned freedom is the tool to be able take away the negativity in my mind and feel at peace knowing that i am able to do whatever my heart sets out to do. With this freedom i can push myself more and motivate not only be but possible
