Does clinical decision support (CDS) have any way helping diagnosis early detection of Severe Sepsis? CDS is a tool that has been adopted in many electronic healthcare records (EHR) to provide physicians with data that could be pulled from the record to make informed and/or evidence base decision during the physician workflow. A sepsis alert rule using the CDS would give the physicians a way to detect severe sepsis early on. Another tool is the cloud base sepsis sniffer which can take data like vital signs and lab values and if the patient meets criteria a severe sepsis alert would fire to the clinician. Severe Sepsis has a high mortality rate in hospitals and a longer length of stay (LOS) so having a way to detect earlier would decrease the mortality rate and LOS which in return gives better quality to the patient. …show more content…
Having early detection of severe sepsis will decrease mortality rate and length of stay (LOS) within the facility and give the patient the best quality of care. The tools that will increase early detection of severe sepsis is the use of clinical decision support (CDS), a Sepsis cloud and the use of the computerized physician order enter (CPOE) with Clinical decision
