Starbucks Company Grande, peppermint, white-mocha, latte, please? That is a mouth full to say the least, however, those words are the sound of patrons ordering a festive cup of coffee from the infamous Starbucks Coffee Company. Customarily, coffee lovers alike are particular on how they take their coffee. Although, there are many coffee houses to choose from, big or small, Starbucks seems to be the staple of coffee today. The research paper below will discuss the progression in the company, Starbucks, along with how the company has grown in history, employees, and financial gains, and in retrospect became one of the top leading companies in the coffee and fast food industry. Company History In 1971, Starbucks opened its first location in the historical Pike Place market in Seattle, Washington. At that time, Starbucks was founded by three men named; Jerry Baldwin, Gordon Bowker and Zev Siegl. As it is true today, Starbucks prides themselves on offering “some of the world’s finest fresh-roasted whole bean coffees” (Company Information, n.d., para. 3). Starbucks was named after the book, Moby Dick, which “evoked the romance of the high seas and the seafaring tradition of the early coffee traders” (Company Information, n.d., para. 3). In the early 1980’s, the rich taste of Starbucks coffee got the attention of a man named Howard Shultz. Howard was so intrigued by Starbucks, he could not resist the opportunity to become a part of the Starbucks Company.…
