Society's Arguments Against Abortion

Forty-two million abortions are performed worldwide each year. That's more than the entire population of Canada, which would cost unprepared families over five hundred billion dollars in just one year. To kill an unborn with horrible procedures is not only wrong for the doctors, but morally wrong too. As a society we lean towards economic explanations for behaviour, and in some ways this makes sense. People are guided by money in their choice of job. While tax accountant might not be most people’s first career choice, society manages to find enough of them to fill its needs. The key argument for protagonist of this act is that a woman has a right to her own body. This is a true and correct statement. All people have a right to do to their own bodies what they will. The unborn baby, is still an individual or living soul. Even though it resides inside its mother, it is a separate being genetically. Its DNA is completely its own, and different from its mother's DNA. Regarding abortion for medical reasons where the mother's life is in jeopardy, that should be left to the discretion of the mother, family, and doctor.
