Should Standardized Testing Be Mandatory Essay

Pop-quizzes, weekly tests, final exams, and semester exams are just a few things that a high school student has to worry about. A standardized test is a mandatory test that students take, usually through the state in formats such as Parcc and Air. They are supposed to be based on common knowledge and material learned in the classroom. This controversial topic is debated year after year when the students are required to take them again. Standardized tests should not be mandatory for graduation because they increase stress levels, forbid the use of creative thinking, and do not require a trained person to grade the test. In the name itself, it admits to one fault, “Standard.” The tests are not specialized to one topic, and present a student with questions that are to be answered with an opinion. Scoring a person due to their opinion that they were required to share is simply insane. (synonym?) Americans typically do not like to think on their own, and like to have the answers handed to them. This problem can be sourced from standardized tests that punish kids who give thoughtful and imaginative answers.
