I was born in Phoenix, maybe the hottest city on earth. It's an unusual place, not just the son, also the people. Once, I heard mobsters retire in Phoenix; I also met a man who told me the story of where Jimmy Hoffa disappeared too. Here, people go outside less, it's just too hot.
As kids, for fun, my sisters and I would try and walk barefoot across the pavement. Whoever got the farthest won. Probably, I damaged my feet a little that way. As we grew up, movie theaters became the main attraction. There's a dollar theater on the north side of town, and it's a popular place to go. Over time, culture has come to the valley of the sun; now there are Japanese friendship gardens, alternative theater troupes, and even covered sports arenas.
