Now lets set up a situation that has occurred time after time. A homeowner is asleep and wakes up to the sound of breaking glass and heavy footsteps. The homeowner immediately leaps out of bed and grabs their firearm, which lies nearby. Once the homeowner realizes their house is being intruded they spot the suspect and fire their weapon, killing the burglar and saving their family, as well as their property. This situation worked out in the homeowners favor because of the Second Amendment to the constitution. The Second Amendment to the United States Constitution composes an implicit part of citizen’s safety.

Guns help make the world of self defense a fair place even when it comes to large criminals versus the elderly. In fact, in California a few years back in 2013, a 72 year-old woman fired her .357-magnum Smith & Wesson revolver at a home intruder thwarting this attack (Grandma, 72, Shoots at Home Intruder). Without the help of the firearm, this situation would have turned out much different, maybe even deadly for the homeowner.
There are also many other reasons why the Second Amendment can be exercised effectively. If you have a gun you might as well get the most use out of it right? This is where open carry and concealed carry come into play. With both, you have the ability to take your firearm just about everywhere. Places such as schools would not allow the guns to be on the premises even with the necessary permits.
Some citizens worry that people with a gun permit might take action too quickly because access to a weapon is only an arm’s reach away. Although some may argue about concealed weapon carriers being a threat to public safety, statistics have shown the opposite. Since May 2007, there have only been 863 deaths caused by someone with a concealed weapon permit, while 60,000 homicides in the United States in the same amount of time.
