When King George was mentioned, the Declaration of Independence stated that “he has abdicated Government here, by declaring us out of his Protection and waging War against us.” (Declaration of Independence). Without the protection of the “king” the U.S. citizens had no protection at all, because he controlled the whole military and their utillary. Also, the “king” was “waging War against us,” which made matters worse because he had an advantage due to his ammunition (Declaration of Independence). This is why the second amendment is a great significance to the constitution. When president Trump was asked about the second amendment and his point of view on it, he replied with, “THE SECOND AMENDMENT WILL NEVER BE REPEALED!” ( “President Trump”) There’s no hope in completely removing the second amendment, but there’s a chance in altering in it. If the amendment was more restricted, such as, background check and age limits, it would reduce the amount of mass shootings, because less convicts are capable of purchasing and owning a weapon.
