Moving to another state was a huge leap into the unknown for me. I knew that going to California could provide me with great opportunities to fulfill my dreams, so I took everyone’s doubts toward me and committed. Upon the day I was admitted to San Diego State University I was ecstatic. Upon the day I was admitted to San Diego State University, I was joyous, but for the wrong reasons. I was happier about proving all of my doubters wrong than I was about making a big accomplishment and attending a great school. When I think of it objectively, there were hundreds of reasons why I thought California would suit me well, such as the ocean, sand, the heat, the beauty of the campus; it was the differences. The weather was always nice and it was a …show more content…
My time in San Diego thus far had not been easy. I had constant 8:00 a.m. classes and the weather by noon was a scorching 100 degrees. The days were tiresome and never-ending. I met very intriguing people from this university ranging from faculty to students and became fascinated with the lifestyle San Diegans take on. However, after another couple of weeks went by, I soon came to realize that San Diego didn’t hold what I have been searching for. San Diego State University does have the major of which I wish to pursue yet as days go on I realize more and more that they do not offer the lifestyle I wish to share with others. I hold a very tight-held relationship with God and wish to further that relationship at a school such as Seattle Pacific University. While attending San Diego State University I have struggled to find godly friends and a community whom will support me. I came to a realization that college isn’t just about academics and obtaining a degree but also developing a personal world view and deepening your faith. More and more my interests are becoming about God and serving a Christian community. I love the intentions of Seattle Pacific and what they wish to get out of every one of their students. By attending Seattle Pacific University, I hope to enhance my relationship with God, deepen my knowledge within exercise science and participate in a Christ-like

When I view the world around me, I see darkness. I see broken people with hurting hearts hurting others. What I also see are Christians. Christians everywhere who are doing nothing to love and help the pained individuals surrounding them, while doing everything to promote prosperity in their own lives. Of course, not every Christian is like that, as I am not one of those Christians.…

“If you have four years to complete your college education, do it,” said Bo Jackson, a prominent professional baseball and football player in the 1980s and 1990s (Bo Jackson Quote). He was the first of his family to be given the opportunity to go to college, and he took it. Like Bo, I will seize my opportunity to attend college at either the Ohio State University, or the University of Toledo. For me, the hardest part is not the academics, but deciding which of the two to attend. Among everything Tuition, location and living conditions, and my future major in engineering all impacted my decision the most.…

My sister would be there to remind me that college was not as simple that I assumed it was yet; I could care less what they thought. San Marcos was my gateway of starting a new life with the hopes of gaining an education. Coming to San Marcos I inspired to study about psychology and to show my true potential. My hopes of coming here was not to learn more about my passions or gain the “college experience” but, I wanted to expand my knowledge. When I was a child it seemed that I was always behind everyone else my age.…

The University of Southern California is a top notch facility with premier applicants from every corner of the world, each with something that is essential to understanding them. As for myself, I feel as if my story would not be complete without telling the tale of my rural upbringing. Coming from a modest town of 2,144 residents in northwest Indiana, my day to day experiences have been a lot different than those I would encounter in Los Angeles, California. While going from being surrounded by people who ride their donkeys to school to being surrounded by people who ride their long boards to school would be quite a culture shock, it is exactly the type of adjustment I need to transition into my adult life. Although the environment I grew…

After I graduated high school a few years ago, I attended the University of Alabama for a short time before I decided that I did not want to be in school at the moment, and would rather work until I was ready to go back to school. Being in the small town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, was a culture shock to me being that I was born and raised in the suburbs of Washington D.C., and then moved to Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where I always had plenty of activities to choose from. Coming to Union College was not something I had been planning for a long time; it was very last minute and was a difficult decision to make seeing that I had already left college in the past, partial reasoning because I was not happy in a small town: I felt trapped. Ever since the year 2012, I have moved five times living in four different states—Alabama, Florida, Maryland, and Kentucky—which has been stressful for me to say the least. The move to Barbourville, Kentucky was not entirely easy, it was difficult to leave my family and move to a part of the U.S. that I had never visited before.…

On a particularly sunny morning in Washington, Mr. Charbonnel, sipping on a mug of tea over skype, answered my question regarding his choice in university. He gave me two separate answers to my questions. The first answer being the one he gave to his family and friends, “I wanted to go to school with my sister so I applied to Washington State!”. But after a moment’s chuckle he responded, “The actual reason why I choose Washington State over any other school was that I had procrastinated all first semester, and it was the only school that was actually still taking applicants.”. Having known Mr. Brandon Charbonnel most of my life, once as a teacher now as a friend and a somewhat of a role model, I was satisfied with the second answer he had…

To My Senior High School Ex-Boyfriend, I want to start off by saying thank you for being my first boyfriend. You were a sweet guy who knew how to make me laugh and feel pretty. I was happy for the most part throughout our ten-month relationship. It’s a shame that college was the whole other beast that made us realize how different we are, and how much more we both had to grow. I made my first friend after a straight week of being alone--eating by myself in my room or at the dining halls while my housemates hit it off as if they’d been best friends forever, which I complained to you about several times (“How the hell can people who’ve known each other for days act as though they’ve been best friends forever, and pretend that they’re not going…
