Hi Rana,
I like how you mention that volunteering can aid those in developing countries. Volunteering is great way to be useful and make a difference however is not always easy. In my opinion, marital status, parental role, and flexibility in work scheduling are all impediments in volunteering. In addition, if you volunteer for a short period of time many times you are expected to pay for all of your travel, food, and housing expenses. I considered donating my time a few years ago in Taiwan for a few weeks but I had to pay about $ 4,000 for my expenses. Since I was the only income provider in my household at that time, I couldn’t afford to go.
There is no particular organization that intrigues me; however, I would like to volunteer

Volunteering not only helps socially in our communities, but also economically. I believe it helps economically because we could contribute to getting homeless people back in the workforce. In addition, many places that help people in need are more often than not on strict budgets, and I believe if people volunteer than perhaps those locations or agencies wouldn’t have to spend as much money on employees and instead have many rotating volunteers, this could also allow them to use funds for other urgent matters. According to the Corporation for National and Community Service, 61.8 million individuals in the United States contributed 8 billion hours of volunteerism in 2008 alone.…

Volunteering Require for College Admission Most college students have difficulty finding a job because of lack of experience in their majors or fields. In “Volunteering Required,” Loretta Van Lear argues that it is necessary for the students to be required their volunteer careers in the majors or fields before starting college programs associated with those fields. Volunteering is an essential part of this world. Every day, millions of people around the world struggle with many problems such as: poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc. Without people volunteering to help solve these issues, what would the world be like? Although there are many existing organizations that help with these issues, such as Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels, one that I have found an interest in is Habitat for Humanity. They are a non-profit volunteer association that works together to build reasonably priced homes for people all over the world.…

In my initial phase of volunteering at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, I spent 24 hours learning to professionally transport and communicate with patients. Following training, I commenced my role as a hands-on-care volunteer at DFCI. I currently provide cancer patients with hand massage as they undergo their infusion. IVs are often placed in various regions of the hand so I learn to adapt to differing circumstances to maximize the care and relaxation each patient receives.…

I volunteered in the recovery room of a hospital for 6 months earlier this year. I was primarily shadowing the nurses as they prepared the patients for transition to the regular rooms. `I also took down results, helped patients get food/drug items they needed, help transport them around the hospital and provided general support to the nursing staff. This was my first experience with volunteering, and it showed me how beneficial it is to not think about myself but help others, while becoming more immersed in my chosen field. On the other hand, it also made me realize that it would be more rewarding to volunteer in a setting with even less available…

Volunteering is when people provide their services to a cause without expecting something in return. This is an act of patriotism and selflessness that, if spread, could make a nation flourish. I am continuing my volunteer work at the Grace Resources Center to serve the homeless by helping with the Emergency Grocery Program and Hot Meals Program. Additionally, I am currently enrolled in a Certified Nurse Assistant training program at St. Joseph’s Nursing School. After completing the program in August, I plan to work full-time while continuing my volunteer work. In the program, some of the things I am learning are the foundations of resident care, personal care and rehabilitation and restorative care skills which will allow me to learn how to deliver patient care. Being a Certified Nurse Assistant would enable me to gain clinical skills, to learn how to deliver quality patient care and to practice holistic care principles.…

If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others. A positive aspect I saw was that those who were already volunteering were really dedicated and kind hearted. I believe they are making a big impact on every person they touched and made it a task to spread their kindness.…

In some cases volunteers offer their help because it is an issue that is close to their own hearts and if this is the case it can be even more rewarding when they see the fruits of their labour. In most cases the biggest personal benefit is simply feeling good about yourself.
