Volunteering is an essential part of this world. Every day, millions of people around the world struggle with many problems such as: poverty, hunger, homelessness, etc. Without people volunteering to help solve these issues, what would the world be like? Although there are many existing organizations that help with these issues, such as Salvation Army and Meals on Wheels, one that I have found an interest in is Habitat for Humanity. They are a non-profit volunteer association that works together to build reasonably priced homes for people all over the world. Habitat for Humanity, along with church groups, community groups, and thousands of volunteers, have helped to build or restore over 600,000 homes and have assisted over three million people worldwide. I would learn the basic skills needed to build a house such as putting up sheetrock, building walls, installing floors, landscaping, painting, cleaning, and most of all working hard to achieve a big goal. During the build days, I would be meeting new people, working with them, and making new friendships that could last for a lifetime. Learning together and working together, we would produce something that none of us could have done by ourselves. Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity would be giving back to the community. I would be assisting in the construction of homes and would be part of the process that has built over 600,000 houses and affected over three million people, all over the world and in my home town as well. I would achieve a major sense of accomplishment, independence, and pride through working with Habitat for Humanity. Seeing from start to finish, the goal that I helped to deliver would make me want to help even more, helping more people and becoming confident that I can do anything I set my mind

We spent a whole day at my school doing simple tasks such as garden cleaning, moving old furniture, covering graffiti, repainting old walls and stairwells. In the end, volunteering had a huge impact not only on me but also the community around me. It enabled me to connect with my community and make my school a better place. I realized that helping out with the simplest and smallest tasks can make a drastic difference in society. If we were to lose physical space, people would surrender their desire to obtain public good.…

Volunteering at the homeless shelter is one of my favorite things to do. A few weeks ago, on a serene Saturday morning, my family and I volunteered at Loaves and Fishes. Yet, they decided to help give back to their community.…

If only there would have been more people volunteering, then so much more people could have been helped. And if more people can be help, then the suffering on earth can be ease. The big problem is that everyone is so busy with their personal life that they forget about the importance of helping others. A positive aspect I saw was that those who were already volunteering were really dedicated and kind hearted. I believe they are making a big impact on every person they touched and made it a task to spread their kindness.…

An elderly woman who got to take part in a high school community service project states, “Many think that volunteering is all about what you give. But what catches you by surprise is how much you receive in return.” This demonstrates why many people do not feel that they should give back because they do not believe the benefits that they can get from it as well. Consequently, when creating that feeling of happiness and satisfaction in someone else’s life, it comes back to the person creating it. Volunteering to help someone get tutored, help the handicapped, involve themselves with a program like Meals on Wheels, certain environmental work, etc., not only does one gain from that, but one’s community has been helped because of them.…
