Step 1
In this reflective learning task it will discuss why poor countries have a predominance of infectious diseases as opposed to the lifestyle-related diseases of wealthy countries. Such as obesity, diabetes, lung cancer, alcohol and drug use. This reflective learning task will also include my opinion of the global health inequalities that exist currently and how we can resolve them. For examples poverty, hygiene, access, wealth, resources, medical supplies, clean natural resources etc.
Step 2
As I work in a medical centre I have encountered all different social classes and races. I have observed that a large portion of Australians have lifestyle-related diseases. I have not encountered anyone …show more content…
Postmodernism is a wide-ranging term which applies to things such as architecture, art, philosophy, literature, fiction and cultural and literary criticism. It is an assumed of objective, or unspecified certainty of scientific efforts to explain life. Postmodernism strives to be recognized as a particular and personalized reality not just a mirrored image. As postmodernism is such a broad term it is able to cover such groups like race, traditions, and other groups. For this reason it relies on personal experience and principles to create a fallible and relative experience, rather than a broad one. If I apply postmodernism to why poor countries have a predominance of infectious diseases as opposed to the lifestyle-related diseases of wealthy countries it allows myself to talk about personal experiences. I believe if each wealthy country either donated a certain amount of money each year or served community service in the third world countries there would be much benefit. We could also make a change by sending over medical resources, clean bottled water or food. I also believe that third world countries need education on how to treat illness and make the most of their resources or how to filter water and farm. By using the natural earth’s resources it will decrease famine and by filtering the water it will create a healthier life-style for many. Also if money was invested into the children’s education they would be able to learn how to read, write and have the fundamental skills that are given in Australia. By doing this it would allow the child when he/she is older to be able to apply for a higher paying job as they are more qualified. Another way of decreasing diseases in third world countries is by starting a national immunization plan to vaccinate all young to create a new generation of healthier children. This can only work if the child has not already had the disease from the parents. If this plan was able to work before giving a child a vaccination they would need to be tested for the disease to be eligible for the course of immunizations. There are many things wealthy countries could do to benefit third world
