I know when college comes I will be very grateful for this class. The first introduction paper I wrote in this class proved to me how much work I really needed to do throughout the course of this class. With the different assignments, in class activities, and various different papers to write my writing began to evolve. My approach to writing not only changed but became an entirely different routine. Instead of diving head first into a writing assignment, I now think about the different things I need to do and the ideas I need to include to make that paper the best it can be.…

In my few years learning intense reading and writing, I feel that this English 101 course will help me expand my skills. I hope to gain some good attributes for my writing and reading abilities. A few attributes I hope to learn are: composing more professional documents, writing a paper that will convey my whole idea, and how to purposely use imagining purposes to my full advantage to gain better attention from my audience as Sarah R. Stein mentions page five in the DK Handbook (2013). By working hard on these abilities, I can foresee how my end product will develop into a higher intense writing. As I browsed the DK Handbook my first impression of this course was the same as a high school class I took.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options. Before English 219 I often did not…

Throughout English Composition 1, I have learned several crucial writing skills. Writing skills that will benefit me in other classes, outside of school, and during my future college years. Not only will these benefit my overall writing and making it flow better, it will all in all make more sense to the readers. Even though I learned many skills and objectives during this semester, four skills really stood out to me. Cohesion, comma usage, the use of satire, and how to write a definitional essay.…

To start, I went through my high school English portfolio to see which essays met the requirements of the Portfolio Placement Program at the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. While doing this, I was astounded to see how much my writing has developed and blossomed since I started high school. I read through some of my essays and decided which ones collaborated with the portfolio requirements, and I determined which essays exhibited my best writing and gave light to my personality and interests. Next, I brought the essays to my English teacher so that she could review the essays I chose and make sure that she thought they displayed my best writing. She also proofread them with me and guided me in putting the final touches on my portfolio.…

Even if I only achieve a few of these goals, it will be worth taking this class just for the writing practice and gaining more knowledge about simply writing. I will strive to make the best possible grade in this class as I complete my senior year of high school this May. Writing is one of the most important skills to have, because it is one of our many ways to communicate with others. No matter what field you go into, or what job you have, excellent communication skills are necessary. Communication defines us, when you cannot meet someone face to face the only thing introducing you is the words you put on paper.…
