Going into this college writing class, I did not know what to expect. All I anticipated about this class was that it is a general education class, that was required to graduate. I figured there was essays, but I did not expect how much. This class has taught me good information that can further help with my writing career. I said at the beginning of the year that I might want to do a fashion blog. With the material, I learned in this class I can make it be persuasive, professional, and fun. There were many good things about this class and some not so good things but overall, it was a helpful experience.
Analyzing my audience did affect my writing in many ways. When I find out the type of audience I am writing to, I have to change phrases around in my essay so that my specific audience can interpret what I am saying. For example, in my Critical Review essay my target audience was young adults, while persuading them to read The Great Gatsby. When I talked about the book I do not talk

My strengths as a writer are coming up with good topics to write about. I also find really good evidence to support my claims. I tries to utilize my strengths as much as I could in my papers, the only one where my strengths strived the most is my Rhetorical Analysis essay. That was my favorite essay to write because finding evidence was easy to find because it was right there in the article. I also felt I could be more expressive in paper. I have learned in this class that you need to proofread. Proofreading is a necessary tool that every writer should use because it gives you a chance to get a last read of your paper and helps you know when you are not hitting the mark in your writing. I plan to use this skill by proofreading all my papers for a specific class Christian Formation because even though these are opinion papers but I need to make sure they make

The many skills that I have acquired include in-depth research, more through drafts, fluidity of my paper, and better outlines. These skills will help me writing in the future because I need good in-depth research, fluidity, and more through drafts to have a good starting point and will give me a better idea on what I need to add. The most effective thing we did in class was peer reviewing others essays because I got to see different writing styles and different ideas on how to incorporate my evidence better or different choice of words. Even though I have developed good skills for the future, I still have struggles in my writing. This class has helped me to recognize what I struggle with in writing so in the future I can recognize it and improve on my weaknesses.…

I'm not going to do a whole bunch of research to demonstrate this well-known point, because I'm not getting paid at all right now so I really don't care. But I will use my own personal experience working at community colleges as an adjunct in Ohio. The three colleges I've worked at, one four-year university and two community colleges, pay anywhere between 425-500 a credit hour per semester. So, for one three credit hour course from Sept. - December, I'll make a total of $1500 before taxes for the semester.…

Writing has always been a weakness for me, I remember hardly passing my English classes in high school because of it. The only things I saw myself good at writing was songs and maybe stories that I would make up, but I can’t say much for using proper grammar in them. There are a couple reasons why I chose to take WRTG 101. First, I needed a writing class because I’m working on getting my CCAF. Second, writing, or at least the formalities of writing are far from a strength of mine…

When this class first began, what seems like over a year ago, I was a fledgling college writer. I was a novice in college, with basic writing skills. Since that time, so long ago, I have become a moderately better writer. I have gotten a handle on the writing process of narratives, which I previously was very out of practice on. Even writing prose such as the following: “The air in Autumn is so fresh, and clean, and cool.…

My strengths in writing are that I’m very confident about sharing my opinion and I think I can bring a different viewpoint on topics. I’m also a good public speaker and I try to implement that into my writing and make my papers lively. In addition, I’m good at implementing quotes and examples into my papers and I think it makes my essays stronger. I also think my writing style is unique and doesn’t have a concrete structure to it. This is good because I can write different types of papers while still sticking to my…

My development as a writer has throughout this course has been an exciting one. During high school my teachers were very strict in what they wanted which in ways helped my writing but in other ways it hurt my writing. This course has given me the freedom to write about things that interest me while helping me grow. It has made me mindful of my grammar, which I normally just did whatever, and it has also given me the chance to improve by means of useful feedback from my professor.…

I am writing this final Letter of Reflection to discuss my background in reading and writing about literature, my strengths and weaknesses in writing, changes I have noticed in my writing style, process, and abilities this semester, and why I have chosen to revise my Initiation Story, poem research paper, and essay on Death of a Salesman for my final portfolio. While in high school, I took College Prep English courses as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. In those classes, I was required to read various forms of literature such as poems, plays, short stories, and novels. Some of my favorites were Lord of the Flies, Romeo and Juliet, and The Pearl. I also wrote numerous essays analyzing different components of the literary works.…
