Reasons Why Teachers Should Not Have Guns

What I think...

Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.

I liked this one because I understand where the author is coming from. Especially during this day and age guns and gun violence is a very hard topic for people to talk about because it is so controversial. I can say I am walking the line on this topic so many school shootings have happened. To protect the students from harm I think it is a good idea. On the part where I feel it is a bad idea is that what if students feel the need to also bring guns for protection?…

Whether or not teachers should be armed is rather disputable, with a lot of information to support both sides. People argue that school teachers should be armed with a firearm for defense purposes and to potentially save their own lives as well as students' lives in the event of a school shooting. They believe that with the proper training and authority, this change in schools could save many lives. Others believe that arming teachers would create more danger in schools and instead of decreasing the number of deaths due to school shootings, that number would rise. They think that not only should firearms not be brought into schools because of its distraction to education, but that teachers in possession of a firearm would create accidental…

Imagine that you are at work when you suddenly get a phone call from your child’s school. They are calling to notify you that there has been a mass shooting at the school, and that your child has been injured. The police had been 15 minutes away, so they did not arrive on time to save everyone. Arming teachers has been a topic of great controversy between educators and parents. With the increase of schools considering arming teachers as protection, prices are likely to pose an issue. According to Scott Whitman, an administrator at Jackson County School district looking into arming teachers in his school, said the cost would be the greatest factor. To arm and train ten teacher would easily exceed $25,000 a year, which both administrators and tax payers believe is an unneeded expense. To add to the already large expense, many teachers will ask to make a higher wage due to the fact that they are taking on more responsibilities (Yaccino, 2013).…

Teachers should not be able to carry guns on school grounds. To begin, a teacher who owns a gun can cause bigger problems because it won’t be able to keep the children at the school 100% safe. The concealed gun can easily get into anyone’s hand and could easily be fired at anytime. This is not safe because someone can harm another person which would cause major issues. It would be better off if teachers don’t have guns so there are no situations like that.…

I do not think teachers should be allowed to carry a concealed weapon on school premises. Outside of school, depending on your background check you may be able to conceal carry, which I do believe is a good idea for safety reasons. The only men or women that should be able to carry a gun on school premises is a police officer, or a retired or undeployed military veteran. They are trained for months, if not years on when and when not to use…
