How would you defend yourself? Many people are saying teachers should be armed with concealed weapons to defend the class from threats. Others are saying the teachers could use the weapons on the kids and cause a threat.personally I think that some teachers should be armed but only if they go through special gun courses and mental training. These teachers and schools have the individual right to carry guns to protect themselves and the students of the district. For the common good of your kids, Make your school safer by letting teachers carry concealed weapons. …show more content…
Michelle Montgomery went to trial and was accused guilty of an accidental discharge of a concealed firearm in a prohibited area. She was charged with a misdemeanor and was relieved of her position of a school teacher. Accidental discharges of a firearm at a school, sets a very bad precedent for this issue. The attorney of michelle montgomery, who is also a firearms instructor, says “i believe this is a very harsh charge for an accident.” i agree with the attorney because the discharge of the firearm was not intended and no one other than michelle was hurt(standard-examiner.net). Let this just set an example that people with concealed firearms need to be extra precautious when in public.

This issue is very important because if teachers could carry concealed weapons they could protect the children of that school. The issue of whether or not school teachers should be allowed guns relates to the constitutional principle of individual rights. These teachers should be able to carry concealed guns, with a permit and training, to protect the students and those in the school. But how will the school protect the students if the teachers get out of hand? That's why this issue is so hard to resolve. What it giving the teacher a weapon to protect students actually ends up harming

The dangers associated with allowing teachers to have guns on the property creates “diminished safety for students, faculty, staff, and visitors” (The Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence, 2000, p.2). The most prominent concerns reasonably revolve around both “mental illness… and the misuse of firearms” (Malcolm, 2016, p. 1). Higher risk levels of injuries and fatalities occur when firearms are used improperly, and a vast number of people are uneducated on the proper handling of defense weapons. Perhaps a teacher’s mental instability could be unleashed on an irritating student by an easily accessed bullet rather than a simple scolding. The opposing side is very skeptical of the sanity and morals of teachers and their possession of guns in the classroom.…

If teachers have access to the weapons, an intruder could also gain access only increasing the potential for violence. Concealed handguns in the schools would be kept in a secure area and teachers and administrators would have strict procedures in carrying the gun on school grounds. There would be more responsibility for the teachers and administrators, but in order to protect students teachers would welcome new regulations. The battle continues in state legislatures across the country.…

Much of the authority over whether to allow guns in schools rests at the state and local levels. In Ohio, school boards are allowed to arm school personnel but are not required to notify the public that they have done so. In some states, teachers and other employees can carry a gun without anyone’s knowledge, including that of school authorities, so long as they hold a valid concealed-carry permit. No one knows how many schools in the United States have armed teachers or staff members. It was a free three day gun class in Rittman k-12 public school employees offers by the Buckeye Firearms.…

Tragedies that take place on school grounds send shockwaves through communities. This brings up the argument of whether or not teachers should be allowed to carry a firearm. This topic appeals to me, not because I am a huge advocate for guns, but because safety on school grounds should be of the utmost importance. Ultimately, teachers who elect to carry a firearm on school grounds would have to pass extensive background checks and training. Provisions and policies would have to be set in place to make sure students would have zero access to the firearm and that it be locked away securely.…

Imagine the idea of being defenseless against an attacker trying to wreck havoc on your teachers and fellow classmates. The worst feeling in the world is when you are helpless, and there is nothing you can do during a situation. Not allowing our teachers to carry a weapon while on school grounds is a great way to achieve this helpless feeling. Since 2013, there have been over two hundred school shootings in America- an average of nearly one a week. Between 2013 and 2015 an average of two shootings on K-12 schools took place per month.…

Many teachers and administrators are unsure about how pupils may handle altercations and stressors of everyday campus life with the easy access of guns and worry that talking to students about their schoolwork and grades can cause retaliation. Another problem they face is how much it will cost and what it will take to beef up security on campuses. Firearms should not be…

Also do you think a student would be able to look at a teacher the same after they saw them shoot a person the kids would be tarfided. As already stated everyone is dangerous but people do not realize how dangerous they are until they have blood on their hands. This would also greatly affect their career and if the teacher moved it would be hard to get a job because this would be on their permanent record and the educational board wherever they are will not want to hire someone who is dangerous whether it is in self defence or not. Another thing is what would happen if a student where to get ahold of the gun think of how much damage they could cause with…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

The fact that the firearms are concealed is crucial. Since the handguns are concealed, a criminal would be unable to detect whether a classroom has armed staff or not (Crime Prevention Research Center). Students who are nervous when seeing firearms wouldn't be scared because the handguns would be hidden. President Trump advises school boards to protect the staff of each district with insurance to reduce the risk of liability, which should put those with concern for the staff at ease (“Arming Teachers and School Staff”).…

Over the past few years there has been an escalation in the use for guns. One reason for why this might be happening is because the guns are being used for mass school shootings, such as: the Sandy Hook shooting, the Parkland shooting, and many others that people don't even know about. This problem has now caused a controversy over whether teachers should carry guns while working in school or not. Many people believe that the only way to defend children during these shootings is if the staff carry guns. Although this idea seems to have many great advantages against shooters, it also opens room for more issues involving the children and the teachers.…

Teachers with Guns Columbine High School, Sandy Hook Elementary, Virginia Tech, and Umpqua Community College… All are schools that we know very well, not because their great education or numerous awards but for sad tragic events that have filled our televisions and newspapers far too often. Archbishop Alexander K. Sample released a letter after the Umpqua Community College shooting stating, "Sadly, we live in the midst of culture that does not value the dignity and sacredness of every human life as it once did." (qtd. in Another Mass Shooting). School shootings constantly seem to be in the headlines in the United States causing many to question if schools should really be a gun free zone, should teachers be able to carry guns on school property?…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
