Should Teachers Have Guns In Schools

Improved Essays
Arming Teachers Should a teacher gave guns in classrooms? Why or why not? I say no, because students can get the gun from the teacher, by one distracted the teacher then the other one would get the gun while the teacher is distracted. Teacher would want to teach students in class instead of wasting time just for gun practice when the teachers going to go through hard difficulty of lessons and practicing guns.
The teacher shouldn’t have guns in school because you don’t know if they can do something dumb to themselves or the students. The teacher can try to practice a lot but what if they can’t stop an active shooter, what if they miss? What if they hit a kid?. Teachers can shoot others if they’re going through stressed. Teachers would have guns to shoot the mass killer, but what if a teacher accident shoot, then hit a student, would the teacher go to jail or they wouldn’t do anything. If the teacher were to be in jail then it’s called banned teachers from having guns. If the teacher were not to go in jail, then the kid

It’s different from what he expected, because he’s not in the school with student to know how scary would to be running out of school and getting shot or injured when you’re trying to keep yourself alive. He wouldn’t want his kids to go school no more if their was a shooter that’s going around school to kill student, teachers, security and adult people around school. For example, like celebrity, they get guard so good to the point, they don’t get hurt or being shot. Why can’t student be guard like just like celebrity, presidents basketball players, football players etc...you wouldn’t want students, kids, and children to have the vision in their memories of seeing people dying right in front of you and seeing blood everywhere that’s around just like being

The teachers and students have no way to fight back due to the law on carrying arms on school premises. How would you feel in that situation versus if your teacher was able to carry? The question should be ask because the percentage of school shootings has risen 3.6% over the years. Because teachers are not granted the right to defend themselves and others, children and adults across the nation are left at the mercy of murderers. The Second Amendment does not apply to schools, and many people believe it is not necessary at all due to a society where “well-trained police forces provide personal security” (Malcolm, 2016, p. 4). However, the right to bear arms is incredibly important and necessary even in a police protected environment. The system of school lockdown procedures is fatally flawed, leaving students anxiously hiding under desks in dark classrooms, potentially awaiting their demise, as if their hunter is unaware of its victims’ whereabouts. Sadly, the “first ones [at the scene of a crime] are the perpetrators and their victims” (LaRosa, 2005, p. 2), not the police.…

If teachers have access to the weapons, an intruder could also gain access only increasing the potential for violence. Concealed handguns in the schools would be kept in a secure area and teachers and administrators would have strict procedures in carrying the gun on school grounds. There would be more responsibility for the teachers and administrators, but in order to protect students teachers would welcome new regulations. The battle continues in state legislatures across the country.…

Proposals offered by the gun lobby to repeal the federal Gun-Free School Zones Act and arm teachers as a solution to curb those rare instances of gun violence at school. Teachers are not trained law enforcement officers – their purpose is to be educators and role models. Gun violence prevention measures for our schools should focus on educating kids about the dangers of firearms, and reminding gun-owning parents to safely own and secure firearms and ammunition, rather than on arming teachers. A study of 37 school shootings in 26 states found that in nearly two-thirds of the incidents, the attacker got the gun from his or her own home or…

There are a lot of concerns and questions that others are wanting to know since the latest school shooting in Parkland, Florida. Because of this horrific tragedy the President of these United Sates is trying to propose a law for the people. He is trying to get the Senate to agree that teacher’s should be allowed to bring armed weapons while teaching students. One topic has been ripping through America, resurfacing every couple months after another tragic event — Shootings. The type of shooting that I fear most take place where I am required to attend 5 days a week, 10 months of the year — school. The idea of teachers being allowed to have guns rattles me more. How do teachers being armed prevent school shootings? In fact, looking at recent news stories teachers having guns becomes an apparently bad idea.…

What I think... Teachers should not have guns because what if a kid got caught in a crossfire of the guns. Another reason that teachers should not carry guns is like at a high school kids if they got left in a room Unattended and the teacher the the gun in the desk and the kid knew it and the kid got ahold of the gun. Then that would end in disaster. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that what if a student had been constantly annoying and being disrespectful and the teacher finally just snapped and shot the kid, that would send the teacher to jail and the kid either to heaven or to the hospital. Another reason that teachers should not have guns is that teachers are there to teach the kids not be a security guards or a babysiter.…

In an age where people are trying to take guns away from law-abiding citizens; we need our guns now more than ever. Everytime there is a mass shooting this debate pops up, yet we continue to have mass shootings. If some teachers were allowed to conceal and carry guns in schools, mass shootings would dwindle. The resource officer at the Parkland shooting never went inside and 17 children died, meanwhile, the resource officer at the Maryland school shooting engaged the shooter and saved countless lives. This illustrates the effects that a capable person with a gun can have on saving the lives of children.…

If a student’s intent on hurting people they would know who would have a gun and how to get it. Also school officials are not the police, they have not been trained for these types of situations and can do more harm than good. The police can respond calmly than someone who is not used to being in these situations. Teachers should not be leaping in and start shooting away trying to fight the attacker, they should be trying to get the students away safely. More guns being fired is not the solution in a mass shooting and would likely bring more casualties and be harmful than intended originally.…

These teachers should go through the most intensive background check because they have the ability to hurt a lot more kids than a random person trying to shoot up a school. If the teachers can get a hold on a gun and then tell the guy with the gun that every class is packed and ready to shoot then I believe the maniac will come to his senses and get out of the school. I feel the same way about guns in the workplace. For example at my mom's shop, she was looking at the cameras and someone was breaking into a truck late at night and instead of my mom having a gun for self-defense at her work place she had to take cover as the robber shot a bullet in her direction. This is why I feel so strongly about gun rights and where you can and can't take them.…
