For every sport you must be repetitive when creating the model. What I mean by this is you must explain the rules and regulations of every sport and/or game. Not everyone has the knowledge of how they work. Also it is important to instruct fair play and behavior. Some students may try to break or bend the rules to cheat or be aggressive and get away with it. Another thing you have to understand is the student’s grade level and maturity because you will teach a 5th grader a sport much different than you would a 9th grader due to the comparison of their skill level and knowledge. Next, making modifications for the rules and teams would make it easier. For example, when playing a soccer game, you can modify teams to 6 players playing against each other on each team instead of 11 players. Making the time of the game shorter would be another modification. Sports or activities that you most likely will have to learn while going through school are basketball, football, floor hockey, soccer, tennis, volleyball, softball, weight training, track and field, and fitness. The different roles of the students include being players, coaches, captains, referees/officials, assistant coaches, score keepers, and stat keepers. However, they are also responsible for instructing, being leaders, assessing, and performing. As a player, you do not have an assigned role, you are just participating as a member of the team. As a captain, you must function how a coach would for a team, being responsible for practice, games, and communicating with the team with any important information. As a referee, students must run games with rules by calling fouls and penalties and keeping up with the etiquette of the sport. As a coach or manager, you are responsible for distributing any equipment, setting up the field, court, or track, and arranging substitutions in games. As a score keeper, this can be designated to anyone because it does not require a lot of work to keep score of a game. As a stats keeper, students are responsible for recording results of games for individuals and the team as a whole. Now in the perspective of the teacher’s role, as a teacher your role shifts from teacher-centered to student-centered through instruction. By doing this, teachers can institute rules and regulations then continue to instruct, facilitate, and assess student learning especially in a group or team setting. Next you have your sample season or unit for each sport. On the first day, you introduce the sport you are teaching, break the class up into …show more content…
Positive sport experience is a good benefit to gain because some students are not into sports. However, introducing it to them may give them the chance to become interested because they may never have had the opportunity to play before. Teamwork is beneficial because it can pertain to your life outside of sports such as in the classroom, group work, and in jobs. Gaining knowledge and skill is always something that you want to be able to do in anything in life. Building relationships is essential because it is important to develop a network of friendships and bonds with people, you never know what someone may be able to help you with. Being a leader and having leadership skills is something great to have. This means thinking strategically and being able to accomplish a vision where you see yourself and working for it to get to that point. Participation is crucial in any aspect, not just sport. Participation shows that you are giving effort, without participation someone cannot assess you. Fun is the biggest aspect you should take from this, especially in sport. Even though you are working hard to receive the best possible grade you can, it is important that you are having fun while doing
