Playing sports forced me to get my homework done at school, or make time for the homework after the practice or game. Knowing I had to keep my grades up to stay on the team; sports in a way provided me with an incentive to do my work. At Greenville High School, our coaches not only expect us to pass our classes, but also expect us to get somewhat good grades. Participating in sports in high school, and having good grades went hand in hand for me.
Before high school sports, I was never quite comfortable in speaking up and being the leader. Over the four years I played volleyball, the sport taught me that leading the team would lead to success. Our team needed a voice to guide the team, and being that voice taught me so much. Being a leader taught me that winning is not everything, as long as progress was being made that was all that mattered. I worked hard every day to guide the team and provide an example of what hard work
