Student athletes now may be suffer from an increasing risk for mental health problem. There are some obvious signs, such as the fluctuation of mood, worse sleeping pattern, isolation and the decline of academic performance. This phenomenon has become a hot topic in certain countries
Some reasons may induce this unexpected consequence. First of all, student athletes have to balance their academic performance and sporting issues. Moreover, most parents of student athletes often hold a big expectation to their children that also will be a kind of potential stress to their children. The second reason is the improper practicing. The risk of some disorder may increase due to too much practice and the change of age. The next reason is about social activities. A lot of student athletes are not willing to seek out professional help from psychologists because they are afraid to lose the respect from classmates and coaches.
