Katie Hendrickson

Sports have the power to not only teach individuals fundamental movements but with the right guidance can teach life skills that will aid them in future endeavors. Katie Hendrickson, a first-year student at Olds College, is taking the Sports Management Diploma. She has had many athletic experiences and achievements that have guided her to pursue a future occupation that involves giving back to the athletic community.

Katie was born in Innisfail, Alberta and was raised on the family farm just outside of the hamlet of Spruce View, Alberta. She is the youngest of four children, having one older brother and two older sisters. Even though she was raised in a small community the opportunity to participate in any sport that her heart desired was always offered by her parents. Becoming a multi-sport athlete was nothing out of the ordinary, as for when she was growing up there were always multiple sports on the go amongst the siblings. She has been provided with the opportunity to develop into a leader. Although not always an outspoken leader, Katie’s actions and attitude toward an array of situations has developed her into a silent leader. Through striving for her own greatness, she has inspired athletes around her to also strive and challenge themselves to be better athletes. The leadership roles have extended to Katie, having the opportunity to become an official of different sports. Katie has had the chance to be a hockey referee as well as an official for canoe polo, both of these experiences have given her a chance to develop mentally and enhance her knowledge of leadership.
