Crisis pregnancy centers are nonprofit organizations that have the intension to convince pregnant women not to terminate the pregnancy. As of right now, there are a staggering twenty-three hundred crisis pregnancy centers in the United States alone. Activists believe that if the client sees the image of the fetus, she is more likely to change her mind and keep the baby (Kelly 206). As much as someone might not believe this tactic will work, when a woman sees the image of the fetus, it often pulls on her heartstrings. If that doesn’t change their mind on having an abortion, activists will often offer the pregnant clients services that sound too good to refuse such as counseling on pregnancy options, baby food, diapers, maternity clothing, social service referrals, testing for sexually transmitted diseases, hospital care, prenatal care, and financial assistance. These services are free of charge, but in return for the services the activists provide, they expect the clients to attend seminars for abstinence, parenting classes, and Bible Studies. The reason activists expect the clients to attend the services is because they believe that improving the life of the pregnant client requires Christian morals (Kelly 206).
