Planned Parenthood Federation of America Argument
To achieve greatness we must put aside our differences for the greater good. There is a strong ongoing controversy about Planned Parenthood, mostly due to the debate about abortion. However, for the sake of millions of people, this federation should have your support. Planned Parenthood deserves your support because they offer multiple helpful services, support and educate teenagers about their sexuality, and their main goal is to assist those in need by providing them with the reproductive health care services. We should all want to help the less fortunate. Planned Parenthood’s roots began in 1916 with Margaret Sanger. That year, Sanger and two other women opened up a birth control

Every aspect of Planned Parenthood is necessary in today’s society. For example, birth control is needed for sexually active couples who do not wish to conceive a child. Couples who refrain from using birth control have an 85% chance of becoming pregnant within a year. Additionally, it is predicted that 1 in 10 people identify as gay, lesbian, or bisexual. While there are many other support groups and federations that they can join to learn more about their sexual orientation, LGBT members may also go to Planned Parenthood to seek information on same-sex intercourse that may be difficult to find otherwise. These services are vital to the people today; and therefore should be easily obtainable and affordable. There is the common misconception that outlawing abortions and preaching strictly about abstinence to young adults will end all abortions and teen pregnancies. This is not the case; illegal or not, abortions will still be performed and teenagers will still have sexual relations. Globally, almost half of all abortions are performed in unsafe conditions, which can result in severe damage, sometimes even death, to the mother. You can oppose abortion all you want; it is still going to happen. For instance, in Uganda, abortion is completely illegal and abstinence is the only aspect taught in sex education; however, the abortion rate there is 54 in 1,000, which is twice the rate that it is in the United States. Furthermore, Western Europe has the lowest abortion rates in the world, an estimated 12 in 1,000; this is due to the fact that Western Europe offers legal abortion services and contraception methods are highly available. What Planned Parenthood does is make sure that its abortions are medically

Planned Parenthood should not lose any funding or be shut down. Despite recent abortion controversies, Planned Parenthood should not be held responsible for pro-abortion advocates. The organization is pro-choice, and intends to give the choice back to the people in order to allow them to choose a better life for themselves. If Planned Parenthood loses its funding or gets shut down, people everywhere, but especially low-income families, will be put in a difficult standing in affordable health care and wellness. Furthermore, shutting down Planned Parenthood would put many people at a greater health risk than they have now, and worst yet, it will not end abortion.…

Out of the numerous services that Planned Parenthood offers the public, only three percent of all of their procedures are abortions; meaning that ninety-seven percent of everything they do is basic health care and other medical services. Cecile Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood, lists the statistics in her article, Today, We Fight Back, “every year, 2.7 million people come through the doors of our health centers, a million people participate in our sex education programs, and 60 million people get health information and other resources from us online.” Since the Republicans who drafted this bill often focus on abortion, they completely ignore all of the good that Planned Parenthood does for the community. Getting into doctor’s offices can be incredibly long and hard process, as documented in Cecile Richards’ article; she talks about a woman that she met who, after her husband lost his job, lost their health insurance. After finding a lump on her breast, she only found two clinics that would take her on as a patient, but they had two-month long waiting lists, so she went to Planned Parenthood.…

Don’t burn the buns in the oven About 1.1 million abortions are performed each year and about 51% of those women are under the age of 25. These statistics show that young adults are getting the idea that it is okay to just throw away lives because it is more convenient for them. Women’s rights has been an issue in the United States since the early 1800’s and until all people are comfortable discussing the fact that in many parts of the world, women have no say in what they can do with their bodies or how it’s treated. A woman should be the only one who can decide what is best for her body. There is only so much that women can do when the one place that helps women with checkups and abortion based questions, Planned Parenthood, is being defunded or closed down. “The House of Representatives is expected to pass a budget reconciliation bill that guts the Affordable Care Act, pulls roughly $450 million in federal assistance from Planned Parenthood and prevents Medicaid recipients from getting reimbursed…
