Abortion: The Morality Of Planned Parenthood

As the young girl sat down in the dining room table with her family, she’s choked up, barely being able to breathe, her heart beating out of her chest, the room slowly closing in on her. She’s been trying to build up the courage to tell her mother for weeks now but, she knew that it would only break her heart. At the delicate age of 15, she is 5 weeks pregnant. A child herself is now going to be responsible for another life before she could even start her own. Hundreds of thousands of teenage girls experience this gut wrenching feeling yearly. The fact is, our country does not have consistency when it comes to sex education. Unwanted pregnancies, along with sexually transmitted diseases is the result of this. Though the nation is split when it comes to supporting women health centers alike due to the morality of abortion, doing so will create a bigger impact for the better. According to the statistics that Planned Parenthood provided of all the services that they have performed in 2012, only 3% were abortions, leaving 41% to STD and STI treatment, 10% to cancer screening and prevention, 34% to contraception, and 12% to other women’s health services (Planned, 2014). The advantages of doing so are being able to properly educate the public about reproductive health and contraceptive options with little to no cost, the decrease of sexually transmitted diseases, and as well as the decrease of unwanted pregnancies. At the end of the day, the government’s sole purpose is to create plans and regulations that will better the well-being of the people so why not support an organization that provides care for
