a. Making clear relationship between student and teacher is one of respect. This important so the student knows that you are their mentor and you are on their team. You want them to be successful and see it through that they are successful. Always be the student’s personal cheerleader!
b. Knowing about the student’s home life is important when building a relationship with the student. By knowing about the student’s family and how the student is treated at home can help you gage how/what a student will do in your classroom. Lastly, knowing the student’s intellectual needs. All kids do not learn at the same rate. Therefore, knowing how quickly a student picks things up will create a positive relationship because you will be able to keep the student accountable and give his extra attention when he needs it. By doing that you can figure out what learning strategies will helps them thrive in the classroom.
2. I decided less than a month into school that I was not meant to be a teacher. I love kids dearly and I love that I would get the opportunity to change life’s; however, I have decided to be bold and chase after a dear that I use to be scared to try. Once I realized that failure is apart of life and that I just might fail at engineer, I decided that I had to at least try. I will always have a special spot in my heart for teaching and teachers although I do not plan on making it my career.
3. The biggest positive I see in being a teaching is being able to encourage children and make each child feel special. As a cheerleader, it comes naturally to be to be extremely positive and encouraging. I would love to watch as a child finally learns the object lesson and becomes proud to be a student. Here are three ways a teacher can create a positive learning environment:
a. One way to create a positive learning environment is by making sure ALL students feel safe as soon as he/she walks into your classroom. Regardless of the student’s home life, each and every student should feel free to be who they are without judgment when in my hypothetical classroom.
b. Another way to create a positive learning environment is being “with it”. By this I mean that the teacher is award of where each student is academically. I should know which student is struggling with which topic at all times. This creates a positive learning environment because you wont be able to help the child reach his/her potential if you do not know where they are struggling.
c. Lastly, making sure all of the student in the classroom know the expectation of respect. Respecting the teaching, respecting each other and respecting themselves. The students in my hypothetical classroom will NOT put each other down and they will surely not put themselves down.
