This piece of writing will address good practice in teaching and learning in the subject of PSHE, whilst referencing how we can create a sensitive and empathetic classroom environment where everyone's ideas are welcomed. This could be through a question box given to the children to collect any ideas they may have, and would also be an example of baseline assessment. Children may have ideas about anti- bullying week such as a ''kindness corner'' or ''do 1 kind thing a day challenge'' and these ideas would help their classroom become a more positive and welcoming place. This can be used for a second purpose to bring up any issues they may be facing at home or throughout their school life which they did not want to say in front of other class members.
Moreover, teachers can incorporate PSHE into English through certain creative books they choose, for example ''I'm a girl'' (Yasmeen ismail, 2015). This book gives insight about living in the wider world which is a topic central to PSHE. It also displays the gender gap we face in today's society and discusses the negative stereotypes and perceived differences between boys and girls. When books like these are mixed with exciting speaking and listening activities, they can create meaningful discussions and improve good PSHE teaching practice which allows children to be more aware of the world around
