Saint Philip Neri’s father was Francesco di Neri, a lawyer, and Philip’s mother Lucrezia da Mosciano, was part of a family who was in the service of the Italian state. When he was a young boy he saw a donkey loaded with fruit. He jumped on the donkey’s back and it slipped and fell taking Philip with him.
